Q. Who has influences your style the most in life?

A. Growing up in Tokyo and living in different cities around the world influenced my eclectic sense of style. I think my style changes depending on my mood. I am someone who appreciates pieces that aren't very trend-focused. I like to mix and match garments from different eras (vintage with new pieces, old designer pieces I've had for ages styled with a new pair of leather trousers, etc.)

Q. What fashion advice would you give your younger self?

A. Wear whatever the fuck you want. Personal style is PERSONAL.

Q. What is the most timeless piece you own?

A. It would have to be my Helmut Lang coat I bought in 2014 which I still wear. It's a long army green coat which is classic but has a modern twist to it. It also does a good job in keeping me warm, so it's partical in that regard as well.

Q. What item is your dream find?

A. A pair of really cool Jil Sander formal shoes at a sample sale for £45.

Q. Biggest fashion faux pas?

A. Skin tight skinny jeans. YIKES.

Q. First designer purchase made? and why?

A. I think it was a pair of Miu Miu jeans in the early 2000s. I loved the colour and fit of them. They were grey and had a subtle pink tint to them. I still have them.

Q. All time favourite brands?

A. Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, Margiela, Dries Van Noten, Bottega Veneta, Prada.

Q. An item in your closet that always sparks joy?

A. Not a single item but my bag collection. I Iove my bags, they spark all kinds of joy.

Q. What is your most versatile item for styling?

A. I'd have to say my black leather trousers by Alexander McQueen. You can dress them up or dress them down with whatever you choose to wear on top but either way they'll still elevate your look.

Q. What is your fashion motto?

A. Rules are dated. Have fun.

Q. Favourite fashion era?

A. The pre-social media era. I think people dressed a lot more interestingly when they didn't have so many "trends" being forced down their throats. It's a lot more fun when everyone's dressed differently.

Q. Least favourite fashion era?

A. The celebrity style doppelgänger era (now) where a lot of people just want to look and dress like a certain celebrity and everyone just starts looking exactly the same. It's boring.

Q. How can consumers ADPT their fashion choices to be more sustainable?

A. Buy quality, timeless pieces that YOU like. Forget about trends and what everyone else is wearing. Buy something that will last and that you can style in different ways. Support sustainable and eco-conscious brands and just keep learning ways in which you can help minimize damage to our environment. We all have a responsibility in creating a safer, cleaner and more sustainable future.
